Saman dance was one of the most famous dance in Aceh. This dance originated from the Gayo highlands. Saman dance use poetry in Arabic and Aceh. In the past, Tari Saman is usually displayed to celebrate important events in the indigenous people of Aceh. In addition to the usual dance is also displayed to celebrate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad. In fact the name of "Saman" is obtained from one of the great scholars of Aceh, the Sych Saman.Saman dance is one of the media to convey a message of goodness. This dance reflects the educational, religious, manners, heroism, solidarity and togetherness. Before the dance begins, namely the opening of the saman, traditional leaders appear to represent the community provide useful advice to the players and audiences.
Tari Saman usually displayed using the accompaniment of a musical instrument, a tambourine and the use voices of the dancers and their applause is usually combined with beating their chest and groin as synchronization and threw the body into various directions. This dance is guided by a leader who is usually called Sych. Because of the uniformity of the formation and punctuality is a must in this dance show, the dancers are required to have a high concentration and the exercise seriously in order to perform perfectly. This dance is performed in groups, singing in a sitting position on his knees and marched without musical accompaniment.This dance is danced about 10 people, with details of eight dancers and two people as the grantor while singing.
